Trainee Advocate
Responsibilities:
- Conducting detailed legal research on compliance regulations, including data protection laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Kenya’s Data Protection Act.
- Assisting in drafting and reviewing contracts, privacy policies, and legal agreements to ensure they comply with current data protection and compliance regulations.
- Supporting internal compliance audits by preparing compliance checklists, identifying areas of risk, and assisting in the implementation of corrective measures.
- Collaborating with clients to assess their data handling practices, providing legal guidance on data protection policies, and assisting in data breach response procedures.
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in data protection laws, regulations, and industry best practices to assist with advisory services.
- Attending court proceedings, client consultations, and compliance-related training to enhance practical experience in legal and compliance matters.
- Assisting in the preparation of training materials and participating in data protection awareness sessions for corporate clients to help ensure their adherence to compliance frameworks.
